We are an enthusiastic couple from The Netherlands who first visited New Zealand in 1997 and after visiting again in 2013 started the immigration process.
Our goal was New Zealand, our dream was Halfmoon Cottage and on the 17th of July 2015 we became the proud owners.
We speak Dutch, German, English, and a little bit of French and we invite you to come and stay with us in our little slice of paradise.

I found paradise here. such a nice garden, lovely people and everything you need to relax and feel at home. thanks so much I'll be back
We've just had our third stay at Halfmoon Cottage. It is a lovely peaceful stay with plenty of sunny spots around the garden to sit and read and snooze. Very handy to Akaroa and other scenic spots on Banks Peninsula. Cornelius and Margot are wonderful hosts. So attentive to every detail and made us feel so welcome again.
What a beautiful place. It's like coming home. Everything is so well thought through. Spotlessly clean. Plenty of space in the garden, verandas, lounge room, dining room to relax. Stunning gardens. Slippers on arrival. What else can you say. Margo and Cornelius must work around the clock to keep this place as beautiful as it is. Lots of tips and maps on what to do and see in the area. Thank you very much. Would love to come back.
I had an overnight stay in a shareroom at Halfmoon Cottage and found it one of the best hostels I have stayed in. All the facilities are very clean and well looked after as the owners are hands-on ensuring everything is as it should be.
Cornelius and Margo have a wonderful secret tucked away in Barrys Bay. I've never seen a more beautiful garden at any other B&B I've stayed at. They take great care to keep Halfmoon neat and tidy and play particular attention to small details that you start to notice when you compare the quality of hosting at Halfmoon to other places.
My April stay at Halfmoon Cottage was certainly my favourite accommodation during my two months in New Zealand. The hostel surroundings are incredibly tranquil yet magnificent, the hostel itself is beautiful and well-thought and the owners are wonderful and funny.
